Youth Lacrosse Programs
There have been some significant changes of note in the programs that the Innisfil Minor Lacrosse will be offering in 2008. Please read the details below carefully to understand what your son or daughter are eligible to participate in.
Box Lacrosse
- Soft Lacrosse (Thursdays)
3 to 6 Year Olds
This is a non-contact development program. Players are required to wear helmet & gloves, and use a approved lacrosse stick. The program runs for 1-hour per week, focusing on skill and game sense development. - House League
6 to 16 year olds
The house league format will remain the same as far as practice & game scheduling. It is one night per week, with a rotating schedule of games & practices. It is expected that we will play 5-on-5 and utilize the shot clock for novice & above.- Tyke/Mn. Novice - Thursdays
- Mj. Novice / Peewee - Monday
- Bantam / Midget - Wednesday
- Rep Lacrosse
7 to 16 year olds
For players that wish to challenge themselves and play at a competitive level, we offer an All-Star program. This program gets you on the floor 2-3 times per week, with a mixture of games & practices. Our "zone" play includes Barrie, Orillia, Midland, Shelburne, Huntsville, and Stayner. We also travel to Newmarket & Orangeville for games. We typically do "home & home" series with each centre once. All-Star includes two tournaments, including our home tournament at the beginning of June and Provincials in August.
Field Lacrosse
- Spring Field Lacrosse
9 to 16 year olds
The spring field lacrosse program is run from the beginning of April to the end of May. It is a "travel" program, that helps prepare players for the summer lacrosse season. Games are played on Saturdays (8-12 year olds) and Sundays (13-16 year olds). We practice twice per week in April and once per week in May once the season begins. Players that participate in this program do so in addition to House League or All-Star lacrosse programs.
